Driving in the dark is one thing many people dread when it comes to this time of year, but we are here to help! We have put together a short guide to help you stay safe whilst driving in the dark.
Book a visit from an Optometrist – Having regula
r eye examinations ensures that your prescription is correct for driving, regular eye examinations also ensure that any eye health issues are caught and treated.
Clean your windows – It might sound obvious but keeping all the windows and windshields in your car clean can help you with viability and reduce glare.
Don’t look directly at lights – When you see a cars headlights approach try to avoid looking directly at the lights, if possible glance downwards slightly and use road marking to guide you.
Dim your dashboard – Bright lights on your da
shboard can be distracting so if you have a dimmer switch use it to tone down the brightness.
Tiredness kills – Try to avoid driving if you feel drowsy, d
riving whilst tired is a serious problem killing thousands of people each year. So make sure you get plenty of rest before you get behind the wheel.
Slow down – Reduce your speed and be sure to in
crease your distance between you and the car in front of you. There is no rush especially if you aren’t confident driving in the dark.
